Story's Jar

Story's Jar

A Poem by Kathy Van Kurin
"

Even adults can be young at heart and share a simple lovely story together just because!

"

Story's Jar

Oh, tell me a story, my husband, my dear.

Attention I need; your love, your cheer.

Close together, these moments to share.

My soul is so empty, come warm me sir.

Your voice, rise and fall, is melody fair.

Weave me a tale, you’ve done before.

Lonely woods cabin,of trees moaning low.

We dream together, one heart, one soul.

Time is our gift, each second bestows.

Through honey smiles, Fill 'moments bowl.'

Bright fire glowing, our minds gaze within.

Story plays onward, embrace words again.

we are writing a song together, we sing.

I know we are blessed. Together we cling.

You are my color, refreshing love every day.

Morning Prayer waking; Oh God hold him near.

Let today’s cares be gentle, no struggles nor fear.

Tomorrow unknown, Let him trust for today.

Let worries flee so that we can be free.

 Let life be our rhapsody.

I agree, being told a story is a great delight, especially when loving the sound of another's voice in particular. It's too bad we seem to have lost the art of verbal storytelling . . . nowadays it seems to be mostly ranting or other drama. Your poem brings back gentle times of sharing . . . good use of bright imagery & the last line is one we all wish we'd written! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

These lines tell of what really matters. So often we become lost in the rush and bustle of today's material world and forget to count our blessings.

Gentle and wise.

......wow. This is grand. Very poetic with some very juicy lines, and the final line puts it over the top! Stanza 2 Line 2 could have an "as" inserted between the two clauses so the musicality flows better (and also it sounds more like a nostalgic reminder rather than a reminder to the forgetful). A similar note to Stanza 4 Line 3 (but rather than add, the musicality of the poem would flow much smoother were "ev'ry" to become "each"). This is otherwise fantastic! Well done! (p.s. "moments bowl" needs an apostrophe to clarify what that means) :)

Life is full of good and bad, sad and glad.. but to have true, loyal love at any and all times, makes life glow. And that is what your words do, Kathy, they glow with love given and love shared. Beautifully said.

A lovely write and dedication to committed love.

I enjoyed your idea of sharing a story in a real sense with your husband, listening to him read and tell you a story; while also understanding that together you are writing your own story of a lifetime.

In this day and fast paced age where love is used and abused and discarded on a whim, these moments of which you have written are becoming rarer with every passing year. Embrace what you share. Keep your story going. For others are not so blessed with the kind of love you have.

A very nice write. Simple but very heartfelt and tender.
