Dwelling among us

Dwelling among us

A Poem by Kathy Van Kurin

Dwelling among us

They dwell among us quietly, blending in.

Are they homeless?

No. They live within their own Person houses.

.Be aware their Complex layers;

Delightfully they will draw you in.

Intricate stories, they are living novels.

Survival a daily ritual, they hunt and gather.

 Yes we must share.

Weathering cold, wind, rain they seek safety and solace.

We can be part of their deep shelter.

Is connection with the nest-less threatening?

They are part of the scene, the public setting but too human.

.Do we see ourselves in their souls, our response?

Nurture with nourishment.

Smile with bottled water. Listen.

People in all walks of life suffer and need help one way or another. Some with comfort, some with material assistance and others with guidance. The legitimate homeless or refugees are victims of many reasons. We need to be compassionate even if they are less fortunate or down on their chances. A very complex subject and heart-wrenching...:)................
An excellent take on this subject.

In this area they do not try to blend in nor are they quiet. Our church's Chaplain sees them every now and then not just on a street corner but in the county jail. Valentine

I feel this poem is dealing with the ideas of souls and personalities. They live within us and dwell there in symbiosis, feeding off us and nurturing our growth as human beings.

This is a very complex write. A real thought provoker with endless possibilities. Open to interpretation and i feel that is your intention with this piece, to tease the reader into thinking for themselves.

This has me wondering. On the one hand I read it tsalking about relationships that grab you and then let go. On the other I see manipulative people in all walks of life. I will give this more consideration and then come back. Whatever the subject or reasons the writing is heartfelt and sad/lovely.

hmmmmmmm seems a warning to me ...reminds me of those that play ..and they play only their game ..they are very good at it and if sucked in ..we will never win .. not ever .. they know the twists, u-turns, bolting, hiding, and trap laying way too well .. because .. its what they do .. play life away ;{ but i think you are expressing a needed human awareness
.. you remind me that homeless does not necessarily mean without a home ..many struggle day to day and live and work right next to us ..caring can go deeper than the hour or two spent at a soup kitchen from time to time .. nice work my friend! many creative and inspiring lines ..i wouldn't change a thing :)

'Delightfully they will draw you in. ~~ Intricate stories, they are living novels.'

Rightly or wrongly, i think of this as being said about spoil seekers; invaders of common or garden truth;. self written 'novels' aim to draw in sympathy, affection,... and, trust.

Could be there are those with insignificance stored in their tiny minds, whilst others are mightily, sick. The latter are tragic, both are sicknesses but the symptoms are oh so different!

i need to read more.. and more.. to find the truth. Please don't explain for now, other readers need draw their own conclusions..

Your writing challenges, so appreciate that.
