Twilight Symmetry

Twilight Symmetry

A Story by Kathy Van Kurin
"

Descending winter darkness appreciated and welcomed by myself it's human companion.

"
Descending darkness signals last rays of sunlight-
bringing copper gold treetops to an intense glow.

Whirling bursts of air set  pond's surface
 in a rippling textured response
 as if to say,
"Enter the night."

Each silhouette branch
 becomes a winsome
velvet array against fading dusk sky.

The pond becomes alive
in a cacophony of nature's music.

Winds arise in a slow roar
as night birds give their final call.

Spare lines of curling leaf ribbons
snap in the dry cold sharpness.

Joining gusts come in waves as if
calling to each other. "We are Winter!"

Living as I do in a place where winters are mild, twilight is indeed an active, noisy, raucous time and you've painted it with a ton of magic using sparkling details. It's hard to fathom how some can sit inside & watch TV, a typical pastime for this time of day! I propose that we would have less division & fomenting if people would watch the show you describe rather than network news *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie

The winter and the night herald the onset of a deeper, calmer and more accepting state of mind. I love winters!

The world seems to come to life in every color, light and darkness of your thoughts. It makes me ponder deeper when I walk at twilight, season to season, and the day drifts into sweet sleep. Winter is like the whole world dreaming.

Those of us that are fortunate enough to live where there are four seasons, often do not stop and really enjoy the changing of the seasons. Winter gives the earth time to recoup its energy for the new plant growth in the spring. Valentine

I like this! I can't put my finger on what it reminds me of yet, but it's kind of like a scene in a movie I saw a long time ago, or maybe a cartoon when I was little, or MAYBE you just described it so well that I THINK I remember it... anyway, very nice

Every season have a meaning and a feeling to each and every one of us. But as we celebrate change which is the only constant, we celebrate our place in the change of things. They all give us a fresh and old perspective on life. We tend to appreciate the value of time and the creative process in all. An excellent write...Pen on...:)..............
