Beauty Thriving

Beauty Thriving

A Poem by Kate

Rain drops pounding on the pavement like the beating of a drum.
I lay here, waiting for a phone call that I know will never come.
The cord is tangled through my heartstrings,
Bruises forming from the pressure that the rain brings.
Darkness falls and the clouds fade away,
I hear your lingering whisper, your unmistakable inflections uttered to me clear as day.
And I begin to lose myself in toxic memories of you,
Feel myself slipping into the diluted pool of feelings I've renewed.
Wonderful and happy, causing nothing but crushing pain,
I remember what I've lost as the stars shine through the rain.
And I refuse to believe all hope is lost for us if beauty like that can thrive,
When there are shattered heart like mine, everyday fighting to survive.

About
I love writing and use it as a way to vent my emotions. I don't know if I'm any good, as I'm my own worst critic. Being that I use writing as an emotional outlet, every piece is very personal and has .. more..
