Just Gaze

Just Gaze

A Poem by Katrina Mckeown
"

Confinement

"
Confined to one place
out of windows I gaze.

Time feels like
a stuck clock
a body block
from the sun
away I am locked.

Until I step out
and come back in
hoping clean air
was breathed in.

Hands washed
for 20 seconds
a dozen times
a day was the
same yesterday.

Times have certainly
changed I wince
at foods I try
not to binge
instead I displace
to a just gaze.

Yes our world had change. After the bad days end. Most of us are going to be thankful for the simple things. My grandchildren need to go anywhere. Me too. Hello dear Katrina, try to keep busy and be safe.

Gee
Hmmmm, the dreaded ' Vid. Got to say I was one of the lucky ones who worked solidly through those dark days, either in the office or out on site building houses

Wow! In short sentences you gave an accurate picture of our current situation with this pandemic, its effects on our daily life and pschyche. The invisible enemy is forcing us in many ways but giving us clues to the most valuable things that are immaterial.

You are so right. You are welcome.
Our days have become just that. Looking out of the window and reminding ourselves of the freedom we had which is now on hold. Confined to our homes. Fortunately I have a garden which I am ever grateful for. It must be difficult if you don't have a garden to break the monotony. Keep safe Katrina and busy. Busy helps. Stops the mind from going awol.

I feel the same way! Being cooped up is no fun and gazing out the window is definitely a pastime. You capture the mood in this poem. Let's all hope we can be unlocked this summer and breathe some scented air. Nice! Fondly Betty

makes us wish we had given those windows a bit better washing...our only eye to the world as we gaze from inside our closed shell, like frightened Box Turtles.
