Yellowhammer

A delightful little bird

The yellow sun
captures the bright
enchanting beauty
as I stood amongst
the tranquil shades
inside the woodland
shrubs entwined
with splendid scents.

I must say
I don’t know why
some would think
there is a similarity
as I must declare
you don’t look anything
like a reed bunting to me
they aren’t as brightly
coloured as thee.

As I watch you dance
and glide through the air
and listen to your song
I’ve entered into a trance
though don’t despair
as I must surly stare
upon this beauty
circling up
in the air.

Birds are so peaceful, even in frantic flight. Just love the joy of your words.. the insights. I have feeders outside my library window and often lose track of time gazing at the birds... full of color and freedom. :)

Thank-you John .. oh yes if your lucky enough to see one on its own they often fly together with other finches ..can make them a bit difficult to spot but yes they are a captivating to see.
