Laughed

Laughed

A Poem by Marisa Kathleen Lopez
"

They never saw it coming.

"
They laughed all day

Stressed and weary

They quit searching

I wrote a few for a scholarship, but I missed the deadline. This one is my favorite of them all. Tell me please if I messed up the style, I tried my very best. :) Comments and critiques welcomed.

Perhaps I'm not smart enough to understand this one. Could you lend any insight? Were you trying to make a poem according to contest guidelines like, say, a Japanese haiku or something? I notice that there are 4 beats to each line. It's succint and leaves the reader what's happening. For example, who are these people? What is stressing them? They quit searching for what?
