If My Love Could Have Kept You

If My Love Could Have Kept You

A Poem by Autumn Rose
"

I guess this is a typical break up poem. That ends in heart ache and regret.

"

If my love were your everything you'd still be here.

If my heart were your courage, you'd have no fear.

If my body were your blanket, you'd never get cold.

If my soul were your appearance, you'd never grow old.

If my touch were your happiness, you'd never know sad.

If my kiss were your temper, you'd never be mad.

We could have been great, that is you and I.

But instead you snatched my heart, and said your goodbye.

You left me alone, but I found someone new.

Thanks for your cruelty, he's better than you.

I like the ending where you let this guy know that he is no longer the apple of your eye. I hope this new person lives up to the rep you are giving him. I enjoyed this piece alot, the rhyme scheme was consitent. This is a huge plus for me. Good work and best wishes to you. God Bless!
