End of the Line

End of the Line

A Poem by Kassandra de Hoyos

Redemption.

The act of redeeming.

Redeeming to what?

You can redeem yourself at the loss of a game or a chance.

But how can you redeem your life?

The second before you die stretches on forever.

It goes on and on like an endless panoramic series of events.

For an entire second you're no longer afraid

You no longer defend any of the amazing or horrible things you've done.

For an entire second you just are.

You just are.

And there is no need to impress or depress anyone.

There is no need to delude or allude.

For an entire second you just admire what you had.

That is your redemption.
