THE GIBBON AND THE ELEPHANT

Just a little nonsense, and to help you out a gibbon is a type of monkey!

The gibbon sat upon

A bicycle built for two

Oh what should he do

For he has no number two

He tried a bag of flour

Upon that second seat

But the flour could not pedal

And it fell into a puddle

The gibbon said

Oh what a mess

Now I will try a fish

But the fish had no

legs or feet

So pedal he could not

The gibbon cried out

I need a number two

A pencil laying on the ground

Said a number two am I

So the gibbon placed the pencil

Upon that second seat

But that pencil just rolled right off

and to the ground it went

The gibbon thought

Hey - A table has some legs

But those legs just would

Not bend

So that table could not work

Now the gibbon cried I cannot

Ride this bicycle built for two

Just as an elephant walked on by

And heard the gibbon's plea

And said I would like to ride that

lovely bicycle built for two

And that explains the day I saw

A gibbon and an elephant on

A bicycle built for two

My grand children will love this as much as I have. They will however ask me why the bicycle didn't tip backward when the elephant got on. What ever will I tell them ?

I laughed when I read the part about the pencil. Excellent funny poem! There are a few spelling errors, "bycicle" instead of bicycle, "peddle" (which, loosely, is to sell goods) instead of pedal, but otherwise this is an absolutely delightful poem. Now if ever I see a gibbon and an elephant riding a bicycle built for two, I shall know why (though the question arises, which of the two is Daisy?)
