The fish hook earingA Story by KARWOOman and wife fishing storyOne bright sunny morning John and Jane woke up in anticipation of doing their favorite passtime. Jane got their two daughters Lori and Lisa up and dressed, fed them and packed them in the car as John packed the fishing gear. They got into the car and drove the to park that was just down the road. Captains park. It was conveniently a block away and right on the Chesapeake Bay. There they had recycled concrete slabs to help with the beach erosion and was great for those who chose to fish there. Making a nice flat spot to put a chair, bucket and fishing tackle. The first cast of the day was done by Jane who had also set the girls up with their poles. Only a few minutes had passed and she started to feel the fish grab at the line. Jane soon catches a fish. It is a nice croaker. Big enough to fry. Their bucket is already prepared for a fish to put in with a little brackish water from the Bay. She carefully pulls the fish over the bucket. John is really close to the bucket bent over fixing his pole. Jane reaches to touch the fish to get it off the hook and ask she goes to grab the fish the fish flaps out of her hand and she jerked the pole. Now there was a growl from John. Janes rigging had two hooks on it. One had a fish on it and the other had Johns earlobe. John is smoking mad if he was a cartoon, smoke would have been shooting out of his ears. Jane seeing John with a pinched face is at first concerned because there is a hook in him. She knew it was her fault but Johns head was bobbing up and down as he screamed, "Why did you do that?" Not only did he ask this question with great fury but his head was now bobbing up and down like a chicken and he was spouting obsenties at Jane. Jane was having a hard time trying not to laugh in Johns face as the spectacle has hit a funny spot. She turned to look at the girls who were looking rather frightened because of their angry dad. Jane turned around knowing she could not longer hold a straight face and was grinning rather too largely hoping not to giggle. John cooled down and now Jane looked at the hook. It had gone far enough in John's ear that the barb was in. Evey fisherman knows that if the barb goes in the skin that you should try and push it through instead of yanking it out but this would mean that Johns ear would be pierced and John really did not want a pierced ears so he made Jane yank it out and left a hole . Now ladies if you fish with your husband whether you are a good fisher or not make sure you are clear of his head when holding the pole with a fish and a spare hook. I don't think that John and Jane fished together much after this. © 2009 KARWOOAuthor's Note
