What will Clage do now that Vera is going to his school?

"

Rye sat on a tree branch and looked into Clage’s classroom window.

“You seem very interested in Clage. Why is that?” Flare asked. Flare sat down next to him and also looked into the room.

“I don’t know. He just seems suspicious in a way. That girl. Is she new?” Rye questioned. Flare flicked her stringy hair from out of her eyes, but it just returned back to its original position in front of her eyes.

“Um. Yea she is. That’s Vera; she was scheduled to come earlier, but she became ill” Flare explained, while trying to blow her hair away from her eyes.

“Vera?” Rye mumbled.

“Something about her is familiar” Rye thought.

“Do you have an interest in her too?” Flare muttered.

“I think I do” Rye replied.

“Oh” Flare said back sadly; she rested her hands in her lap.

“Are you still worried about Reese” Rye questioned without looking away from the window.

“Yea. He still hasn’t come home” Flare worriedly said.

“I’ll head into town and see if I can find him” Rye offered.

“Thank you” Flare cheerfully said. Rye did a back flip out of the tree and landed on the fence; he then continued on towards the town.

“Why don’t you just declare your love for him already?” Izzy sighed, as she landed on the branch Rye was on.

“Because I’m not like you. I don’t go around flirting with guys when I have a job to do!” Flare barked.

“I only flirt with one guy and that is my love Clage” Izzy went into a daydream about Clage.

“How sickening” Flare muttered; Flare pulled her spear from off her back and looked at the crack.

Rye is right about one thing. Clage does seem a little suspicious” Flare thought. The bell rung which broke Flare’s thought.

“Looks like we are off duty. Its Maes and Glen’s turn to watch the school. Lets get to class Flare” Izzy yawned and jumped out of the tree.

“Yea” Flare followed.

Clage collected his books quickly so he could catch up to Vera before she left. Vera stopped at the classroom door and blew Clage a kiss then kept on walking. Clare saw that kiss being blown and watched as Clage hurried to leave the room. Clage ran out the room and looked around the crowed hallway for Vera. Clage caught sight of her bright blue eyes and started running again. Clage ended up in the school’s garden; he took a few steps then was pulled into a bush. A pencil was then forced into his mouth.

“What a surprise don’t you think?” Vera giggled. Clage made a choking noise; he didn’t dare try and remove the pencil.

“So you’re not insane. Huh your one lucky kid. I knew there was a fifty, fifty chance that you would turn into a sane vampire” Vera removed the pencil from Clage’s mouth.

“What are you doing here? Wait don’t tell me you’re using the school to protect yourself” Clage asked.

“Who would I need protection from?” Vera questioned.

“The vampires that are looking for you” Clage replied. The bush that they were in was still covered in frost. Clage could feel water running down his back.

“Oh so you know about that huh. Well who came looking for me?” Vera picked a rose from the bush which was coved in ice.

“Regis and Alias” Clage watched as Vera twirled the rose, but once Vera heard Alias’s name she stopped.

“You met Alias and you’re still alive? What could have been going through her head? You really had a lucky day yesterday” Vera said.

“Yea. Finding out your parent are dead, watching your friend die in front of you, and turning into a vampire. Yup sounds like a real lucky day” Clage sarcastically replied.

“Your not going to start whining about that are you? Because I will put the pencil back into your mouth” Vera threatened.

“No thank you” Clage whimpered. Clage turned his head and chuckled to himself.

“What’s so funny?” Vera asked.

“Oh it’s nothing. It’s just that I’m sitting in a bush with my friend’s killer exchanging small talk. Maybe you were wrong. Maybe I have gone insane from turning into a vampire” Clage laughed.

“You have a weird sense of humor” Vera scratched her head confusedly that someone would even laugh at something like that.

“Hey Vera can I ask you something? Did you kill my family?” he asked. The tone of his voice changed.

“I don’t know. I can’t remember anything myself. All I know is your blood tastes familiar” Vera answered.

“One more question. Why were those people after you?” Clage stood up out of the bush and helped Vera to her feet.

“I’ am the daughter of Hines” Vera whispered.

“His daughter?” Clage repeated.

“That still doesn’t explain why they would go after you. They should be following you” Clage shouted.

“It’s because my brother wants me dead. He has put the thought into the vampire council’s head that I was involved in my father’s death” Vera explained.

“So now vampires like Alias are after me” Vera continued.

“I knew I’d see you again” Regis laughed.

“You again. You’re the one who attacked me in the alley yesterday” Rye looked down at Regis missing arm.

“I’m guessing you want revenge” Rye unsheathe his sword and pointed at Regis.

“Damn straight I do” Regis barked.

“Don’t be stupid Regis. If he took you on when you had two arms. I think it’s safe to say he’d kill you when you just have one” Alias groaned.

“It’s going to be different this time. This time I have friends” Regis pointed to the three men coming up behind Rye.

“I think I’ll sit this one out” Alias yawned.

“Good. We don’t need you” Regis yelled; he then exposed his fang and let out a growl. The three vampires behind Rye did the same. They slowly circled him; one vampire jumped up and tried to bite Rye. Rye ducked and sliced the vampire’s torso off. The other two ran in and attacked Rye. Rye blocked their attacks with his sword. Rye’s long blue hair fluttered in the cold air as he fought. Rye stabbed one of the vampires in the neck. Rye’s sword got stuck in the vampire’s neck; so the other tried to take advantage. A shotgun shot went off and the vampire’s head flew off. Rye lifted his jacket and exposed the shotgun; he then pulled his sword from out of the vampire’s neck.

“This was foolish” Rye said coldly.

“Shutup” Regis yelled, while charging Rye. Rye grabbed Regis by the arm and slammed him into the snow.

“Like I said. This was foolish” he repeated, as he shot Regis in the back of the head.

“Well that was fun to watch. Regis temper always got the best of him” Alias grinned.

“Are you going to fight me also?” Rye asked.

“Nah. I’m too tired, and you’re not what I’m looking for, but I think I know what you’re looking for” Alias pointed to the house down the street.

“He’s in there, but remember I didn’t do it” she laughed. Rye looked at the house and turned back to Alias, but she was already gone.
