The Nature of ReminiscingA Poem by karmic
I closed my eyes to escape myself once
The moon's silent stare, bulging brightly at the sight It hung bare and wistfully; as if disconnected from the sky itself A starscape of likeness, pulsing channels of light to all that's lost And I'am lost! Staggering through darkened hallways and blank corridors With eyes rolled back And fingers like phantoms; stretching to meet something familiar And they do In a gilded pathway that my vision will never leech upon again I remembered taking someone here once When possibilities were endless and everlasting Long before the shades were drawn Allowing only a paucity of light to outline what's in between Before the floorboards stood up Revealing every dirty secret underneath Before the ceiling cracked opened and built its own teeth Threatening to replace what had been gutted and pilfered Just to spit what's left into the yielding night sky Bringing an end to its transparent gaze of romanticism There was a moment of clarity Of happiness Now trapped behind stoic eyes That fear nothing, but their own nature © 2016 karmic |
