Our Moment In The StormA Poem by karmicOur Moment In The Storm A Poem by karmic I know it's late and still freezing, but do you think that we could walk? I have a crystal leaking flask Maybe we can drink it fast Taking long sips between our talk Fill our lungs with wistful conversation as we ride along the tracks Let the romance of travel consume us and never look back I swear I saw some stars trapped along the icy shore Your cheeks are cherry blossoms and your eyes even more I can tell this is more than passing time by the way you take your hit Puckered up, swallow deep, just to savor every bit I know we’ve had our history; our moments in the sun But maybe this is not the same. Empirically. Sunlight is not for everyone I have my own wicked habits that I might never kick I could love in the twilight, but by the morning I'll be sick Everything seems simple. With a city draped in white Could we stay frozen in time? I can’t imagine another sight The snow is growing restless; reflecting under every street lamp We’re sparking up fires in all the places that aren't completely damp We're all just passing ships headed towards a storm Searching, waiting, wanting someone warm You sing songs playfully; of all the places we had gone But my memory is slippery, so it all comes out wrong Even in the face of my chagrin You smile and laugh again I pluck the snowflakes clinging to your hair And steal a kiss from the frozen air I've been searching, waiting, wanting someone warm And this our moment in the storm I feel your hands shake in mine Like two crazy kids sneaking wine I swear I saw some stars trapped along the icy shore I'll say whatever to keep you from your door © 2016 karmic |
