Petal of Light

Petal of Light

A Poem by Kori Fitch
"

Winter musing is my favorite poem topic. I was born in winter, so as a gift to myself I write a poem for winter. It has other meanings too.

                 Petal of Light

To you who gaze, a lamp am I:

To you that know, a mirror:

To you who knock, a door am I:

To you who fare, the way.

-Jesus-Acts of John,  The Round Dance

The long night song sings

Us into a cold frequency

We vibrate to the rhythm of winter

A melody of light seeks us in the shadows

Darkness descends

It summons us

To fall

To sleep

To dream

You are a petal of light

Swept up by a cosmic wind

Your translucent majesty is calling

Remember your source

Remember another Petal of Light

So translucent he lifted our sorrow

A savior, an avatar of light and love

He is a torch igniting our compassion

Knock my pilgrim, he is a door

Light bearers, he is a mirror

Sacred wanderers, He is the way.

Remember you are a petal of light

Fallen into the darkness of limitation

Remember radiant soul,

your secret frequency illuminates the dark

The Great Cosmic Flower endlessly blooming is your kin

In the long winter of our being we sing songs

Of the sacred fire burning within.
