Lost and Searching

Lost and Searching

A Poem by P. Kapper
"

This is a poem that illustrates both where I am and where I'd like to be.

"

Another day, another hour

Every one ticking by so slowly

Another month, another year

Feeling the world crumble below me

I see all of these beautiful women

Happy because they’ve chosen right

I see a few in wedded bliss

Likely will be making love tonight

Then there are a select few

Sad and longing for someone

They seem to look right past me

My self-esteem has come undone

What do I have to offer?

What good can I do?

Does my life have meaning?

Does my heart beat true?

Lonely has devoured me

Depression’s setting in

No matter how I try

I cannot seem to win

I’m losing all my faith

Inspiration has run dry

All that may be left to do

Is lay down on my bed and cry

Lonely is my weakness

A fact I cannot hide

It’s hard to go on trying

Without someone by my side

I can give you my whole heart

Why won’t you at least try?

We both have lots of baggage

Together our hearts can fly

I see you in your lonely world

Living out your lonely days

The sadness overcoming you

Your heart, the price it pays

That guy, he doesn’t love you

Least not the way I can

He doesn’t have your best interests in mind

He’s not your biggest fan

I see you in your world of hurt

Your soul is not so well

You’ve crawled inside your little shell

Living in your personal hell

I truly do believe that I

Could break you from the pain

Hold you in my arms so tight

And shield you from the rain

I’d give you all I ever could

Help you see the light

You are so beautiful, please see

How your smile lights the night

But you’ve been trapped

With your broken heart

Can’t you see, with me

The healing can finally start

I’ve lived a life of misery

The sadness is no fun

Don’t live your life like I did mine

With someone who is not the one

Once you realize this truth

Your heart will set you free

That guy, he’s no good for you

You belong with me

I cannot promise you a life of ease

Or one filled with diamonds and gold

But if you allow me the chance

I’ll love you ‘til we’re old

I’ve seen the hurt that’s in your eyes

And your face has lost that glow

That smile, it has left your face

And your heart, it has run cold

This is my wish, my very plea

These words I say to you

Damn it, D, why can’t you see

My heart was made for you!
