Miles

Miles

A Poem by P. Kapper
"

Friends move, it happens. Best friends make it harder. Best friends who have become family makes it impossible. When it's both of your best friends, a part of you moves with them.

"

2362 Miles

Makes for 21st century pen pals

10 miles

May as well be a million

As it may do the same

It has been said

Those who chase two rabbits

Lose both

People may come

People may go

But there are some

Fortunate enough

To have created such bonds

Where miles cannot separate

Where friends have become brothers

Thank you is not nearly enough

Words do no justice

For I have been lucky

To have such a friend

And though I’m not losing

I’m not saying goodbye

Parting, as it is said

Is such sweet sorrow

But part we will

But to part with two

Is nothing near sweet

For fortune has blessed me

But dealt a cruel blow

For pen pals will be

What’s left for us three

And though you two

Will be my friends-best

And part as you will

Packing a part of me with you

So farewell and good luck

May your endeavors be swell

And thanks for the times

And memories too

I miss you already

Though you’ve yet gone

And with tears in my eyes

I’ll end it this way
