The Last Time

The Last Time

A Poem by P. Kapper

There, on the floor

I see it

What you wore

And wore so well

The last time

Very last time

I had the pleasure

The last time

It was there

On the floor

In a heap

After I took it off

And exposed your beauty

Exposed your serenity

Thrived in your splendor

Lived in your moment

And that sea of red

Satin and lace

Just lying there

Taunting me

Teasing me

Reminding me

Of a better time

Of hearts on fire

And melodies ringing

Playing our song

For the world to hear

of warm embraces

and tender kisses

Of bodies entwined

In beautiful harmony

Of magical looks

And healing smiles

Slowly discarded

Just like this garment

Lonely and forlorn

Lying sullen on the floor

Forgotten and betrayed

Missing the excitement

The rush of the moment

The heat of two bodies

Hungry for each other

But there it sits

Just as I do here

In equal state

And so it has become

And forever shall be

In a heap

On the floor
