A complaint to Hope

A complaint to Hope

A Poem by kamikazebuterfli

Why do you lie when the truth is perfectly clear?

Do you think I'm stupid? Do you think I don't hear?

Promises mean nothing; words don't mean a thing.

Hope likes to pull you along by a little string.

But the string will eventually snap, and Hope will disappear...

you'll be left with nothing but your heartache and your fear.

I feel that the writer is reflecting with self rather than with another, at least this is how my simple mind has understood.
"Promises mean nothing; words don't mean a thing." How very true with some!

Interesting. The fourth line seems a little weak. Something about the tempo just disrupts the flow. I love the closing line "you'll be left with nothing but your heartache and your fear"... Wonderful

Truthful. Interesting.
The rhyme scheme works for it as well.
