"Lucky Coin"A Poem by Kameron ArmitageStill a work in progress
Endless taste of discrimination in my mouth,
Clashes with the voice trying to pant for one more breath. Inhale deeply, exhale in return, Let the air out of those lungs. My soul keeps seeping, not another patch to spare, The hole grows larger, There is no one there. Found a lucky coin on the side of the road. Polish that hope, make it shine, glimmer in the light. Cherish that coin. It is yours, spend it wisely. Staring at the coin as ol' Lincoln stares back, Throw it in the gutter. Someone else will find it... © 2010 Kameron Armitage |
