"Where Is My Heaven?"A Poem by Kameron Armitage.I have been to the edge of the sea, searched in the woods, sifted the valleys; still no heaven. I have walked the narrow roads, seen the color of my blood, taken the beatings as they came, I am still standing. I have fallen over the edges of mountains, made my way back to the top; only to be pushed down once more. I have cried my soul out entirely alone, winced when hands were raised, prayed to an anywhere god, yet received no answer. I have been crushed by the hands of love, shunned by the mouths of society, scorched by the fire of sin, inhaled by depression. I was saved by an angel... Emerging from the clouded skies, Hands so soft and warm, arms so welcoming, being safe again. Exterminating plagues of extreme depression, reviving me when I have completely drowned, keeping me warm whenever I shiver, wiping the tears from hurt eyes. I have searched for my heaven, from hilltop to hilltop, Valley to valley, sea to sea. Love chose to race through my veins, lie me in the arms of an angel, with everything else aside; I have found my heaven. © 2010 Kameron Armitage |
