"Ignore the Future"

"Ignore the Future"

A Poem by Kameron Armitage
"

Before people take it literally, I don't mean to live in the moment ALL the time, just too many people procrastinate, thinking the future will leave time. The problem is that we just don't know...

"
Take away your visions of jet packs,
and flying cars;
cause we aren't there yet.

Blind yourself from WWIII,
bombs and advanced weaponry;
it is still to come.

Take cover from the futuristic hopes and dreams,
the "I want"'s and the "I will"'s;
the present still has to leave.

Ignore the urges to plan out the future,
3 kids, big house, steady career;
disappointment is just around the corner.

Don't assume we will elect a great president,
before the current leader stops speaking;
the world is forever changing.

Dwelling on the future,
can only interrupt the present,
which leads to a terrifying past.
