"Re-born"

"Re-born"

A Poem by Kameron Armitage
"

heroin addict

"

Eyes heavy,
Blood pumping,
Where is that next fix?

"It's on its way, just relax."
"I will relax whn it gets here."

The package arrives,
His hands are shaking,
The needle inside,
Fate he is forsaking.

The sharp tip of God's hands,
Slides through broken skin,
He feels the ever-so-missed rush,
As it flows through his veins again.

Body calms,
Hands tranquil,
All is over,
Along with free-will.

Little brother rounds he corner,
Sees the needle on hand,
Distraught by the sight,
That his older brother can't even stand.

Brother's eyes open,
As wide as they can,
His life was inevitably over,
Just as his fix began.

His eyes roll back,
Skin goes cold,
Body now limp,
As his life unfolds.

He left this world,
And his little brother alone,
Drugs won the battle,
In this love not shown.

He awoke in the hospital,
As he stared into the light,
A second chance being born,
To live his life right.
