"Quilt of Life"

"Quilt of Life"

A Poem by Kameron Armitage

The significance of love we do not know,

some see a friend, I see a foe.

It hurts,

it kills,

it causes me pain,

I've lost,

my will,

with no more faith to gain.

I had love,

In my pack pocket.

I threw it all away.

I'll never get,

what I want,

My mind has gone astray.

My heart has been stained with the cold looks you gave me.

So I am searching for water in a drought to clean and free.

When love strikes, it strikes hard.

Leaving you helpless on the unforgiving ground.

Just when you had broken my guard.

In search for your calming sound.

But it comes as thunder,

sending chills down my spine.

What could've been, I always wonder,

Now you're just a memory just a design,

On the quilt of life.

Many stitches and patterns strewn across the beautiful work of art.

Most different, but the pattern is always You.

I love this! I never thought of love as a "quilt." Good metaphor. This poem was great! :)
