"Epiphany"

"Epiphany"

A Poem by Kameron Armitage

Another epiphany

hit me as my mind was twisting and turning

Would it be the worst thing if I died today?

Right now?

Would I be missed?

An honorable man

or nothing at all?

Would people cry at my funeral

or sleep in?

Would I rise from this earth

or be condemned forever?

Would God greet me at those gates

or would I fall into the darkest pits of hell?

Would it matter how I act

or was my fate predetermined?

Would my family be waiting

or would I be isolated and alone?

This Earth has been eroding.

I blame the living.

The dead have already made their footprints.

Where will you leave yours?

I'll leave my footprints in your soul;
step on the coffee-table, over-turn a bowl.
I'll make my mark in your inner eye:
so that when it turns inwards, it will see me sigh.
