"Ocean"A Poem by Kameron ArmitageAs the wave approaches,
all we do is stare.
Eyes blank.
Mind blank.
Unwilling to move, yet willing enough to swim out.
White foam polishes the top of the glistening wave.
The wave grows as each second passes.
It stares us in the face, mocking us.
We could turn around and prepare to ride that wave,
but instead we sit and wait for it to come to us.
However, over-preparing for this wave will send us on a lonely journey to the ocean floor.
It reaches us,
Engulfs us,
Smothers us,
Kills us,
All before we seized the opportunity to ride that beautiful wave.
