Substance

Substance

A Poem by sutra13
"

This one I just

"

The white sand covers the beach

She walked up to the edge but hesitated

Tip toed she moves into the water, but hesitates

She missed him…

“Just do it,” she thinks to herself

But she hesitates

“ I wanna be your everything, and give you the world,” he explained

But she’s speechless in fear

She stands ankle deep in the water

Wanting to dive in and explore the vast ocean floor

But she stops in her tracks

“Just tell me how you feel,” he says to her.

In her mind shes afraid of the substance that comes with the exploration of love

She slides slowly into the water, knee then waist deep

She wants it, because of the substance

Deep down nothing has satisfied her yearning heart, until know

Waist deep in all the emotions, she stops

“It’s alright to feel this way,” she said to herself

She crept closer, then she hesitates

Shoulder deep, there is no turning back

She looks back in shock

Chin deep there is no other way out

She takes a deep breath

Then she disappears into the substance……….

It felt more of a short story than a poem, but the movement is beautiful. Definitely a great romantic piece.

Oh wow, absolutely profound! I like how your poem is so open ended to interpretation, yet has so much control and restraint over what is being expressed. Absolutely fantastic piece of writing!
