A Poem by Kaa Na Kalyanasundaram

Though refused to plant

Don't cut the trees

The request of our lively breath

I wish more people where I lived followed the advice of this haiku. So many trees have been cut down where I live to put up stores and badly made new homes. Seeing them cut down is like loosing many good friends.

Wonderful and so good in meaning, as we cut the green, we shall not breathe. Excellent message to the world who is selfish sometimes, and thinks plants do not live, as they have a sould their own too! :)

Marie, this form of haiku is modern haiku poetry. There is no need of 3-5-3 or 5-7-5 syllable count. Three lines which will tell about the nature and other humanistic approach.

I have read several of your poems, and I like them...the meaning is clear and the imagery good. But I'm not familiar with this haiku form. I know 3-5-3 and 5-7-5, and even a haiku pattern known as "Tanka". But what is yours?

You get the point across with an economy of words. Soon we'll be a concrete world truly wondering about the choices we've made in the past.

You can add my breath to that one. Thanks Kaa Na!
