Innocently, We Sleep

Innocently, We Sleep

A Poem by Clara Kevie

I want to be beside you
So close that our torsos are touching;
Holding hands, reassuring,
Until innocently, we sleep.

I want to grab you nearer,
To feel you in my arms,
Know it's you I'm holding,
And keep you in my arms.

I want our heads to be so close,
I can't see anything else;
I can feel your breath
And be comforted; we are in sync.

I want to lay so close to you,
We share the same clarity;
I can hear your heart beat
And pretend I am alright.

I want to be beside you
So close that our torsos are touching;
Holding hands, reassuring.
Until innocently, we sleep.

Repetition can work be it a stanza, line, or word. Always a but isn't there? But it should make a point, line, thought - stronger. For me this time it didn't. I liked where and how you were leading UNTIL the last stanza.
