Something I Treasure

Something I Treasure

A Poem by Clara Kevie

When you find something you treasure,
Something that gives you great pleasure
And you think it would be even more enjoyable
If you shared it with someone very close,

You keep in mind that they could take it,
Never give it back, throw it in a pit,
Break it, or dangle it just out of reach...
You could never find it again.

But you might trust them, as you do
If they are as amazed with it as you.
The enjoyment will be exponential
That is… if the world was nonconsequential.

If you have never tried this gamble,
You might think the rewards are as high
As the consequences, or worse: ramble
On as if the reward does not exist. You lie.

I was dubious about sharing for a long time
Because it kept me happy on my own
And sharing it before resulted in sad rhymes,
But now I feel the light of not being alone.
