This Can't Go On

This Can't Go On

A Poem by Clara Kevie

I'm writing you this note
To tell you that this can't go on.

It's not something that you did
well... that's not entirely true
but it's not something you can help

Let me assure you
It's not your fault,
That is, I don't blame you.

I torture myself,
Pretending and hiding emotions,
But not any longer.

No really, I'm fine.
I'm just writing you this note
To tell you this can't go on.

Friendship is wonderful.
Yes, wonderful.
And I do appreciate it so.

But when something more is desired...
My friend, surely you understand...
That's my conundrum.

I've pretended to hide my feelings
But you are jealous of my platonicy

How   dare   you
Be   jealous.

You have what you know I want
But what we both know
I     can     not     ever     have.

I'm writing you this note
To tell you this can't go on.

I love you, of course
And I mean no ill will

But you have what I want
And we both know
I    will    never    have    it.

I  will  never  have  it
The  way  you  do;
You're not in danger.

So, I hope you see now
There's no point to you being jealous.

That's why I'm writing you this note:
to tell you this can not go on.
