Too Beautiful

Too Beautiful

A Poem by Clara Kevie

To be beautiful is to be something rare
And yet we are taught that everything is fair.
To not be beautiful is to be unrealistic;
To fail to see the something inside, artistic.

Most shine dully, watching rusty reflections
Unaware that curves in mirrors are deceptions.
Searching for that flawless finish that won't last
Even if it were real, t'would further fog the glass.

Few are bright enough to see past the mirrors,
Realize the broken shards of defeated chandeliers,
And view themselves without distorted aid
They might have beauty, but maybe beauty fades.

Then, there are those too sparse to exist
Whose beauty is full and who have kissed
With gentleness previously thought unlived,
Their kind and fetching fill my sieve.
