Took My Breath Away

Took My Breath Away

A Poem by Clara Kevie

You just took my breath away.

That wasn’t very considerate; now I can’t breathe.

You stole my breath from me.

I didn’t even notice until now.

I’m feeling lightheaded,

and when I thought about why that might be,

I realized I wasn’t breathing.

You took my breath away.

I tried to grasp it from you when I saw it was taken,

but to no avail; it was much too late.

It’s almost cute how you seem confused about why I’m fainting.

It’s from lack of oxygen.

It’s because you took my breath away.

What’d you go and do a thing like that for?

That was selfish;

now I can’t breathe.
