Shadows

Laying in bed at night

Trying to go to sleep

To my pillow I cling to tight

But nightmares still creep

I close my eyes

But darkness I see

Still object lies

Nothing is what it’s made out to be

My eyes settle to the black

The dark cold room

But the shadows bring back
Dreadful memories all too soon
