about himA Poem by Kallie Quisthim i’m always quiet around him my mouth shuts, silent screams of instances in love walking next to him.
my loudmouth chatterbox brain is reduced to nervous nothingness around him. i breathe when i’m around him i look at his chest and remember a soft pillowcase in sunrise light i can’t stop staring, why can’t i talk to him white moth on black window dancing to saint peter’s gate in the golden lamp or the final flash of tripping down the alphabetical avenues wishing to be back in that cardboard boxed up night with him i miss cotton blue-striped kisses, knowing he’s real he still waits to walk next to me just enough space in between to stay silent lips closed, lack of sounds isn’t bad i learn to keep quiet not all spaces need to be filled “do you want to get some fresh air?” yes, i smile, love’s not blind it’s silent © 2016 Kallie QuistReviews
