Mr. Sandman

Mr. Sandman

A Poem by trying_to_write

my dreams are filled with happiness.

with you.

please don't wake me up

to the harsh reality

of what is real.

i don’t want to wake up to an empty bed

or a quiet apartment.

i don't want to wake up

without you.

in my dreams we still dance

to the same slow songs.

my head on your shoulder,

and your head on mine.

there’s no need to talk

as there is nothing left to say.

slowly you unwrap yourself

from my embrace.

your face fades as i awake.

i’m left with nothing

but a cold bed

and sad heart.

i guess that’s why they call them dreams.

hmmmmmmmmmmm wistful .. well developed story line .. i love dreaming ... even those that are uncomfortable but certainly those of lovers bliss .. the first person view draws me in .. makes your speaker real to me ... love the closing acceptance of the loss .. its a healthy forward looking stance says i! enjoyed reading Tryin' :)
