In this moment

In this moment

A Poem by trying_to_write

It’s too good to be real,

too smooth to not be a fantasy.

But you aren’t dreaming.

You can wake up and see him,

talk to him, love him

Right here.

Right now.

in this moment, you are awake.

and you are living.

take this chance,

and fly.

Sounds like you might be on track here, learning about the grownup reality of life. I like your clarity of thought and your honesty with yourself about your poignant moment. At each juncture, we must balance our ethical views, our family obligations, our careers, and our duty to ourselves, hoping it all turns out worthwhile at the end. Only faith, purpose, and strength of character will sustain us. Sometimes we succeed, and we give thanks. Other times, the cost in honor, faith, and duty can test our mettle, leading us to run from some desired thing. Like a pioneer searching for the trail West, most of us have changed directions, compromising and redefining objectives. You already see that reality comes in tiny slices. We can come away from a moment with a slice or two missing and gone forever. Still, we have to rely on great truths and faith, honoring obligations to guide us. It is the decisions we make about what is really important that chart our journey. You are learning to trust yourself to make good decisions. Choosing well can one day bring a more rewarding destination than ever thought possible. Junctures and choices can make living in the moment terrifying and exciting. Good luck with your choices.

I like how you transition the daydreams of a crush to the risk taken with that first hello. I enjoyed this very much.
