Midnight AbuseA Poem by ShaeThere is a violent monster, triggered by memory, that I can only see in the dark. The monster pushes its palms into my forehead and drags it’s nails down my face. It rips out my eyelashes one by one and replaces my fingernails with dried blood. When the monster leaves, my mind is cloudy. The inside of my mouth is sore, and the skin on my lips is bright red.
Except, I am the monster, created by the evil memory that I cant shake. I can drown my insides with acid and poison my blood, but the memory will remain. It will linger in my mind like a storm waiting to happen. Occasionally reaching the surface, leaving a mess that nothing, and no one, can clean up. © 2014 ShaeAuthor's Note
