Backwards Eyes

Backwards Eyes

A Poem by kaileigh922

Soon, the day will run away

Without telling you it’s never

Coming back

Never to return to moments we’d fight to keep

Only can look back and see them slipping through

Tightening palms

Daisies soon wilt

Youth hastily spent on wanting to be somebody else

Everything we wish we could be

Just a small ache in our chests

And when we wake up to a new sky

Open our eyes to untaken roads

And faraway castles

A small piece of yesterday remains

Invisible

Still trying to call us back home

Again
