Young Love, True Love

Young Love, True Love

A Poem by kaileigh922

It’s what fills the cracks of emptiness when you’re gone

The dawn of fog that licks the icy roads in the morning

It’s everything all at once, pressing, pushing, shoving you into the spotlight

And you stand there, under it all, smiling…because you know that there’s one face out there

One face out in the dark crowd that is smiling back

And you both know that you’ll find each other again if you look hard enough,

If you squint through the blinding light, that inescapable glare, plain across your face, falling softly into your pupils

Everybody wants a treasure, but once they find it, they fear

Live fearing loss, fearing loneliness and lack of compassion in the rest of the world,

But they also fear the lie that it’s truly lost,

That the sun won’t shine again and the fog will no longer pick their paths for them, making the journey straight, decided

Beautiful words stretched thin enough to see through, never breaking, wrapping themselves around you, and trapping your heart in a contract of moral

It’s what you see when you dream, what’s reflected off your windows on a sunny day

It’s the smell of Old Spice and spearmint gum, whatever reminds you of that special someone

It’s what you see in everything, in everyone, in everywhere you go

And it’s never going to run away
