Lose To Gluttony

Lose To Gluttony

A Poem by Kaela Craven
"

Marital strains over finances and irresponsibility

"

Can I really lose you to the refrigerator?

There's an energy drink in there half full

That you're never going to drink.

Could I really lose you to him

And his many, many brothers?

The dents on the car sent a crack down the wall

Where we met, where we kissed.

The opening gluttony has transferred to your pockets

And my life is replaced by bones.

As my chins increase and your thighs grow leaner

It is progressing opposingly on the internal side

Where your treasure trove is vast and full

And I stand naked, gaunt, hungry

Pouring out the bits of spare

To my responsibility.

Will I really lose you

To burnt coffees

And hidden cigarettes?
