Diamond

Diamond

A Poem by Kaela Craven
"

My mother was diagnosed with cancer on 9/17/08

"

I have been boiled down

To the rawest form of myself

And it is not just a little grain of sand.

I am a hero and a villain.

I find myself as death and life.

I see myself in clarity.

I thought I would be death personified

But here I have a will to live.

I thought I was a diamond

Collapsed into itself.

I am a diamond that forces itself

Into coal.

I am a lump of coal

Twisting into a diamond.

The ancients say the beginning of the world

Was chaos.

Ugly, beautiful,

Unsure

Rigidly decided.

Perhaps from the pain

There will spring

A new universe.

A beautiful poem, you have expressed yourself well. Nice write.

I like your ideas. They are put simply, succinctly here. They are quippish...I'd love to see you develop some of the concepts, give the bare bones some flesh. You point my curiosity towards....what? What will this new universe look like: how will you be different in it?

This is beautiful. Sometimes when hard times hit, we realize our true strength, our true beauty. You expressed yourself very well.
