Rot the Day

Rot the Day

A Poem by Kaela Craven
"

Lyrics, written when I was really drunk.

"

The dry is dripping off me
Like sweat under the breeze
I'm trying to lie like Leopold
With gratitude and ease

I'm dancing like a socialite
I'm singing like a mute
I hope that the vodka kicks in
Before it runs out

Why is there so much laughter
I see but I can't hear
Why is there that emptiness
That burns but doesn't sear
You wrap your arms around me
But never all the way
I mean everything there is
I just cut the night and
Rot the day

The sweet is on my tongue like
The odorless on my nose
I taste the tasteless
Like the crippled I rose

Why is there so much laughter
I see but I can't hear
Why is there that emptiness
That burns but doesn't sear
You wrap your arms around me
But never all the way
I mean everything there is
I just cut the night and
Rot the day

I taste the tasteless
Like the listening deaf
I live my life like those
Ignorant prisoners of
Unchanging death

Why is there so much laughter
I see but I can't hear
Why is there that emptiness
That burns but doesn't sear
You wrap your arms around me
But never all the way
I mean everything there is
I just cut the night and
Rot the day
