Older Than Age

Older Than Age

A Poem by Kaela Craven

The little men in the distance were so small
In the face of the great mountain
Older than age
And purer than truth.
I watched them like ants in her womb-place
And she lay back and let them run over her
And let them feel her breathe.
And it broke my heart to see
That when they breathed her breath
And they drank her sweat
And they smelled her flesh
They didn't notice
Her watchful eyes.

So sad...beautifully depressing.

I love the message here, which maybe some won't see, because that requires reading between the lines. I thoroughly enjoy poems like this, that tell of internal truths we seem to forget, in nothing but one sweet all-to-true metaphor. This one is good. Very good. Thank you for sharing.

Intriguing piece of writing perhaps their scale of preception was too small to comprhend her vastness
