Leave Out

Leave Out

A Poem by Kaela Craven

She tells you you're handsome
And then laughs behind your back.
I tell her she's forgotten the important part.
She's forgotten the heart.
I look down to her -
She looks down to me.
And then we do it in reverse.
I can quote Shakespeare -
She quotes American Pie.
But in the real world Shakespeare
Is okay to leave out.

"Incantations, spells, rituals, what are they? They're poems. So what's a poet? He's a Shaman." "She died laughing. She died in ecstasy. She died with her eyes wide open." Well, if I had to do .. more..
