Can I Love You?A Poem by Kaela CravenIt was cold out It was dark Just like the space inside my heart Empty and needing to be filled I found a flicker of a flame He smiled but then His eyes weren't the same As mine So I put my hand in his and cried I laid my head on his chest Took a breath of his scent And I knew I said, you may not love me But can I love you? It's still cold out It's still dark There's still nothing in me that's warm I'm empty and needing to be filled I found his skin soft and brown He gave me a smile That was more like a frown Like mine So I kissed his lips and I cried I laid my head on his chest Took a breath of his scent And I knew I said, you may not love me But can I love you? It will always be cold out It will always be dark It will always be empty in my heart There's something wrong with me through and through So you may not love me, But can I love you? © 2018 Kaela CravenFeatured Review
