Verbal Punches

Verbal Punches

A Poem by Katie Ann
"

Having your feelings hurt with words and being really confused.

"
You push, I pull
this takes its toll
and I'm bruised from all of the punches

Words you shouldnt have said
the most I've ever bled
for someone like you

No ways to say
the ways I pay
I feel like I've got it all

Unable to please
I fall to my knees
and here we go again

I should run
with the setting sun
and just move on tonight

My eyes are heavy
my soul is tired
and I'm out of will to fight

you don't care
you pull my hair
and once again blur my sight

Too many wrongs
repeated songs
my words marked too polite

you scream, i pace
it is not a race
this is a terrible competition

you yell, I cry
no need to try
to console me now, my dear

it is you who lies
my tears will dry
why is it you i fear?

i will never win
why did i let this begin
im blind without ambition

from your mouth
to my face
It doesnt hurt me now.

When words are punches, you can't pull them, no matter how hard you try. They hit like battering rams
