As I Died on the Sidewalk

I was dying on the sidewalk

Painting my greatest tragedy

With blood and pavement- canvass

People standing overhead

"Oh dear, what a pitiful fellow."

Watching me die before their

Very, sympathetic eyes

I was dying on the sidewalk

Eying the people looking at me

Their mouth agape

Watching the angel of death

Take me away

I got on climbed to his arms

Staring at my body

And at the crowd

I said to myself with my eyes

Very, sympathetic eyes

"What pitiful people."

Author's Note

Well I wrote this for a lot of reasons, the greatest of what influenced me was the news story of a tricycle driver shot by a man riding in tandem and a group of people were just watching him, watching him die before their very eyes.

Another is a social issue about my country: how people can react and ONLY react. They CAN'T ACT.
