Identity CrisisA Poem by Katherine Enma PineappleAn inner debate with myselfDays passed like lightning and thunder One night it was summer next it’s winter The simple taste of love I constantly wonder Am I thinking like an average teenager?
What’s so wrong of thinking normally? Acting like the standards of common actuality I look at the mirror, that girl staring back at me; Was somebody different, what used to be reality.
“Do you enjoy the world out there so real? Are you savouring the tangible feel? Loving the dream breaking savvy? Revelling in your child self’s misery?
“Never would she have dreamed of being you Not liking your style and personality too That lacklustre kind of woman you grew into Dreariness you possess is all so new!”
I heaved and gave my reply without a blink The real world isn’t as bad as you think It’s not full of gaudiness and stink Just a tad bit there to keep things in sync
It’s only full of wrecks and mazes But I think what really and truly amazes Beyond all those is the greenest of grasses Great people amongst all the masses
All you need is a bit of you everywhere Paint your colours here and there Everyone didn’t forget the people they were They just built the courage to dare
To dare to change for all the better The girl gives me the coldest of glowers “What do you mean better, worse rather Brain washed to the core more over!
“All you have said is half the truth older me Half of truth is a lie if you open your eyes and see.” I just stare at her, smiling happily and lovingly And she looks back at me, scorning hatefully
