Lies

An impulsive write

I blinked, trying to blink the tears away

I cursed to myself, I'm being weak again

I don't want to cry today

Memories flood through me

I lay in awe and tears

I tried to ignore that painful memory

SNAP

My lips quivered and I shivered

I hugged my self, cradling me

I soundlessly shout in my mind

Why'd they take you away from me?

No fight and I imagine very painfully

That you were screaming for help

Until your last breath escaped your lips

And you closed your eyes to endless abyss

Sounds of life pounding in your ears

Your cold hand within mine

The repetitious sound of your life line

Blowing in your hand to keep you warm

BEEEEEEEEEEEEP

It felt so unfair

I didn't get to say goodbye

I wish this was all just a lie

[Distant horizons]

Sometimes not thinking brings out truer emotions than pouring every ounce of thought into something. This is one of these times. Beautiful, poignant and most importantly, heartfelt words.

This is a heart wrenching write! I'll be honest here - in the fist lines I thought that this was going to be another one bantering about melancholia and teenage love - but i was wrong! This is a true write. The descriptions you give show how drastic reality can be. It can be shouting in your face, with you hoping every minute that it was a lie. the pain of loosing someone you love can leave you devastated. This poem made me empathize with you. Great work. Well done
